Dutch Apple Dumplings

This recipe I was quite scared to make. Honestly, I thought it was going to taste horrible. I was surprised when I tried them and enjoyed it! This is a very easy recipe! It makes 20 servings. P.S. Pictures are not working at the moment but they will be coming shortly!

Ingredients

For the apple dumplings

  • 2 peeled granny smith apples.
  • 2 rolls of crescent roll dough.
  • ½ a handful of brown sugar.

For the syrup

  • 1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar.
  • 1 ½ cups of water.
  • 2 tbsp of unsalted butter.

Directions:

For the syrup:

  1. Mix all the syrups ingredients together.
  2. Boil the mixture.
  3. Once it comes to a boil turn the burner to low and simmer for 10 minutes
  4. Set aside.

For the dumplings:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Roll out the crescent dough and roll into 20 equally sized balls.
  3. Cut apples into 20 equally sized cubes. Place in a casserole dish dust with brown sugar, cover and microwave for 5 minutes.
  4. Cover the entire apple cube with one of the dough balls (do this with all 20 apple cubes).
  5. Baste the apple dumpling with the syrup and bake for 15 minutes, basting the dumplings with the syrup every 5 minutes.
  6. Let cool for 5 minutes and enjoy!
