Sugar cookies are a classic and they are super easy to make! I know at least for my family we especially like to make them during the holidays. My favorite part of making holiday themed sugar cookies is the decorating part. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of sifted flour
- ½ tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter
- 2 cups of sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 360 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking powder and set aside.
- Use an electric mixer to cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs.
- Add flour mixture and mix on low until thoroughly combined.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Wrap dough in cling wrap, let chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- Cut dough in half. On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut into shapes.
- Transfer to non-greased cookie sheet.
- Bake until edges are golden brown (8 to 10 minutes).
- Cool on wire racks.
- Decorate.
