For my grandfather’s 70th birthday I decided to make him his favorite dessert (oatmeal raisin cookies). I don’t really like oatmeal raisin cookies, so I made a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies for him and a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for me and the rest of my family. This recipe was very easy to make. Hope you enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of salted butter, softened
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 ½ tsp of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp of baking soda
- ½ tsp of baking powder
- ¾ tsp of ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp of allspice
- ½ tsp of ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp of salt
- 3 cups of Quaker oats
- add milk chocolate chips to preference
- If you don’t have all the spices I mentioned and don’t want to buy them all you can use 1 tsp of pumpkin spice instead.
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, light brown sugar, and white sugar until combined.
- Add nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and stir well until combined.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract and stir well.
- Add flour and stir until combined.
- Add oats one cup at a time and stir to combine.
- Mix in Milk chocolate chips.
- Form dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet with enough room to spread out to about 3 inches.
- Bake 10-13 minutes until the cookies look almost done (they continue to bake a little bit after you take them out).
- Remove cookies oven and leave them on the baking sheet for 4-5 minutes to finish cooking, (and just for looks) press milk chocolate chips into the tops of the cookies while they are still warm.
- Remove them from the baking sheet to cool.
